The recycled aluminum platter looks good; even the slip mat is made from recycled plastic and rubber. It’s ideal for those who care about the environment and sustainability, and it’s not too daunting to set up either, even for those who are new to turntables. Everything is handily packed in recycled, molded cardboard inserts that keep all the delicate parts protected. It’s not meant to compete against an audiophile turntable, but it produces sound that’s superior to most beginner record players. Following House of Marley's instructions, I placed the pressure gauge on the plate, and then the stylus needle onto its 2-gram mark, and slowly adjusted the weight until the pressure gauge became level.

From thinking about what might have been a slow (might have been) initial response everything has been excellent. The Audio Technica ATN3600L is a very popular stylus and helps the Stir It Up to produce decent audio. Luckily, the low-end boominess is easily reined in with some EQing, and music with tighter kick drum hits like rock and hip-hop actually benefit. The good thing about the Stir It Up turntable is it’s a solid enough device that it’s worth spending the money to make the switch if and when you’re ready.However, if your house is stacked high with ultra-rare vinyl, being able to transfer it to a more convenient and robust format is sure to appeal.
