About this deal

If you're using an i-Size seat, your little one will need to stay rear-facing until they’re at least 15 months old and 76cm in height. For added comfort, Balance i-Size features naturally anti-bacterial bamboo fabric, which is super-soft to the touch. There are 4 main options for portable car seats for toddlers on the UK market – the BubbleBum, MiFold, HiFold and the Trunk BoostApak. Do check what the upper weight or height limits are for your car seat and keep an eye on your baby or child's weight and height, to make sure they aren't outgrowing the seat too quickly. If your child still fits in their Group 0+ seat by weight and height, they can continue to travel in that seat.

Its clever mechanism means you can rotate the seat round 90 degrees to face the open door – much easier if you’re wrestling a wriggling toddler, and ideal to avoid straining your back (or avoid straining it further) as you needn’t twist and manoeuvre simultaneously. At this stage, the harness can be removed to create a group 2/3 seat, and your not so little one can be fastened in with a grown-up seatbelt! If you are certain the car's airbag has been deactivated, you can put your baby carrier in the front seat.Spacious and sturdy, they’re ideal for children who weigh up to 18 kg or are 9 months to 4 years old.

However, it's a very grown up seat for an 11mo, you might not necessarily need the booster function, and so you might be more comfortable with the Joie Tilt which is also fairly lightweight (as they go) at 6kg, and would allow you to keep your baby rear facing (much safer until well over a year) with the option to fit forward facing if you really needed to or as s/he gets older. Plus, our eagle-eyed car seat experts will check whether this seat affects how much space any front passengers have. Babies and children can vary wildly in terms of size, so its better to use height or weight as a guide for what car seat they should be in, rather than age. Some parents may find them appealing, as it means only having to choose and pay for one child car seat, which could last from birth or 12 months up to 12 years of age.Our three year old has good extended rear facing car seats in both our car (Cybex Sirona, you can see our review here) and in her grandad’s car (Concord Reverso – see our video review here). What makes the Group 1/2/3 even more practical, is that this car seat will see your baby through from 9 months to 12 years.

But for us it was a case of Bubblebum or nothing at all and we felt that the Bubblebum provided a bit more protection than nothing for our 3 year old. Because we value your family’s safety, every car seat we develop is thoroughly tested by independent safety organisations like ADAC. When you're ready to travel with your baby, the harness must be tight enough so that two fingers, at most, can just be inserted under the shoulder straps against your baby's collarbone. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice.

There are types that are only fastened with the seatbelts or with the ISOFIX attachment points in your car.
