The third part of Jason's journey is an oddball medley of uber-nanotechnology, a confrontation between genre icons that reimagines Jason's origins and a Bayhemed reboot that is essentially a potpourri of the first four movies. A couple of moments, including Ginny’s horrifying discovery in Jason’s shack, were too bright on the previous Blu-ray. Flesh tones also appear more natural with healthier complexions and lifelike textures in the faces of the cast. Even though the Scream Factory set didn’t offer up new transfers, they at least had their own discs with a terrific array of bonus features. The image is also slightly darker than its previous release, and in some instances a tad too dark, which causes a mild bit of crush. Contrast also displays better balance and luminance with brighter, cleaner whites and notably crisper highlights. Because film grain isn’t quite as refined as it could be, there’s a mild bit of flicker leftover, which is more obvious on solid backgrounds.The nice thing to see is that a healthy chunk - but not all - of the bonus features from the original 2013 set and Scream Factory’s big collection have been included in this set.
